Can My Dentist Administer Botox and Dermal Fillers?

botox dentist in Chevy Chase, MD

Dentists are highly trained in facial anatomy, and with additional training in Botox administration, a dentist can be your partner in achieving your ideal look. Cosmetic dentistry is more than just a smile — a true smile makeover takes all of your facial details into account to give you natural, predictable results.

Botox and dermal fillers can help enhance your smile makeover by reducing lines around the lips, lines around the mouth and nose, and even the jowls and chin. Dr. Chris Banks is a Chevy Chase, MD dentist administering Botox to patients looking to enhance their natural look.

Can Dentists Administer Botox?

In order to become a “Botox dentist” in Maryland, a dentist must be in good standing with the Maryland Board of Dentistry and complete Board approved post-doctoral training. Dr. Banks has completed his training and earned credentials to provide these cosmetic services to our patients. He is also an experienced cosmetic dentist and active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Is Botox FDA-approved?

Botox is FDA approved to temporarily treat wrinkles and has been used for cosmetic purposes for nearly 20 years. Botox works by relaxing the muscles around the eyes and in the forehead that cause deep expression lines. The results of Botox can last up to four months. Botox is also FDA approved for the temporary relief of headaches and can be used to alleviate TMJ pain.

How Does Juvederm Work?

Juvéderm is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler from the makers of Botox. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is the most popular compound for restoring lost volume and fullness to the face. Juvederm is used to target wrinkles and facial folds in the smile zone including the marionette lines (parenthesis) and smokers lines (tiny lines around the lips). Juvederm can be used to improve the appearance or fullness of the lips and correct symmetry issues.
